How Do You Create A Virtual Tour For Google Street View?

Our process of creating a virtual tour using Matterport technology typically involves several key steps. Here’s a general overview of how the process might look:

 

We begin by having an initial consultation with the customer to understand their specific needs and goals. Discuss the areas they want to showcase, any particular features they want to highlight, and the overall purpose of the virtual tour.

 

Next, we conduct a site visit to assess the physical space. Identify the key areas to be captured in the virtual tour and plan the optimal route for a seamless and comprehensive experience.

 

Before capturing images, we ensure that the space is well-prepared. This may involve decluttering, optimising lighting conditions, and ensuring that any confidential or sensitive information is appropriately managed.

 

We use Matterport’s 3D scanning technology to capture high-resolution, 360-degree images of the space. Matterport uses a specialised camera to create a digital model by capturing data points and stitching them together.

After capturing the images, we upload the data to the Matterport platform. Matterport’s cloud-based software processes the data, creating a fully immersive 3D model of the space. This model includes interactive features like navigation, zooming, and information hotspots.

We can customise the virtual tour to align with the customer’s branding and preferences. This may include adding the customer’s logo, incorporating specific colours, and embedding relevant information with tags and labels within the virtual tour. This is for use on the client’s website and marketing materials. At this point Google Street View doesn’t support tags and labels.

 

We conduct a thorough quality assurance check to ensure that the virtual tour meets the desired standards. We verify that all interactive features work smoothly, and the tour provides an engaging and accurate representation of the space.

Once the virtual tour is finalised, we deliver it to the customer. We upload the tour to Google Street View and ensure everything is integrated seamlessly. Our team can provide guidance on how to integrate the tour into their website or other online platforms. Matterport virtual tours can often be embedded easily and shared via a link.

We offer training and support to the customer, especially if they are managing the virtual tour independently. Ensure they understand how to update or modify the tour and provide ongoing assistance as needed.

 

We can assist the customer in promoting the virtual tour. This can involve incorporating it into their marketing materials and social media.

We welcome feedback from the customer and make any necessary adjustments. Continuous improvement based on feedback ensures that the virtual tour meets evolving needs and expectations.
